The chief engineer of the GT coupe, 86, Tetsuya Tada, has denied rumors of abandoning a convertible variant. He announced that concept more advanced than the FT-86 Open in Geneva would be exhibited at Tokyo in December.
Toyota intend to arouse the convertible version of its GT coupe-86 . Rumors at the end of last month had yet left thinking that the project was abandoned.
These rumors have been swept away by a wave of the hand by the chief engineer of the coupe GT-86. Tetsuya Tada has confirmed to our colleagues CarAdvice that the project would be completed without giving due.
Future convertible variant of the GT-86 was announced at Geneva Motor Show in March by the concept FT-86 Open . According Tetsuya Tada, a more advanced concept could be introduced in the Tokyo Motor Show in December, two years after the introduction of the GT-86.
Originally, rumors of abandoning the project were reported by Automotive News as a result of high cost of development. But Toyota has apparently well to acquire a series of convertible variant of the GT-86.
